Matt LIED about football games.
On August 28, 2025, Matt posted this online:
Look at that paragraph beginning "to do so requires a board majority."
He's implying that the Board made the decision to move to 6:00pm start times for football games.
He's further implying that it was Kacy Deschene, Jeff Simon, and Michelle Langenfeld who made the decision.
THIS IS A LIE.
As the Superintendent reported at the August 25, 2025 meeting, the decision to move football start times to 6:00pm was made by many schools in a large region. Their reasons included safety, less stress on law enforcement, and the fact that schools that had already done this saw an increase in attendance.
At the August 25 meeting, it was JEFF SIMON - not Matt - who brought this up and asked for a further review to be done. Matt simply agreed with Jeff.
But he's taking credit, and he's blaming people who had nothing to do with it.
Shouldn't a School Board member be honest with the public?
Matt is proud of his record. But is it a record worthy of another term in office?
Is Matt doing the work he was elected to do?
You can easily find Matt on the District's YouTube channel.
It's harder to tell if he's doing the job when the cameras aren't rolling.
Let's look at something simple: Matt's Committee Assignments.
You can see that he has taken fewer assignments* each year that he has been on the Board.
Compare his numbers to the numbers of his colleagues in each year.
You can see who is doing the work.
It's not Matt.
* Multiple current and former members of the School Board have affirmed that the Board Chair consults with each Board member before making Committee Assignments. Matt has fewer assignments than his peers because Matt wasn't willing to take on more work.
Here's the detailed breakdown of Committee assignments for the years Matt has been on the Board.
This information was gleaned from Board minutes at the beginning of each year.

The Bridges and Pathways Vote
Let's look at some of Matt's votes, starting with his vote about Franklin Elementary School in Anoka.
In 2022, the Board voted 5-1 to transform Franklin, bringing special education students into a District-owned facility and out of rentals.
Guess who voted against it?
He claims to have voted against it because of his opposition to Equity programming and Social Emotional Learning.
What does that have to do with funding the special education programs at Bridges and Pathways?
Here's Matt's post about that vote.
Now let's look at a more recent vote from January 14, 2025, in which Matt OPPOSED a $40,000 grant from the Department of Education:
INQUIRY-BASED LEARNING
Matt recently told someone in his Let Them Be group that he had voted AGAINST "Inquiry Based Learning."
Inquiry-Based Learning is a method of instruction that invites students to ask questions and explore sources to come up with answers. It teaches students to think critically, analyze problems, and research answers.
For some reason we do not understand, Matt thinks this is bad teaching.
He wants teachers to LECTURE to kids in every class. He thinks that's enough for everyone.
Matt's doesn't know what's best for students, and it shows.
